Paint protection film, aka clear bra, clear film, is a thermoplastic urethane film that is applied to painted surfaces to protect against rock chips, bug and chemical stains, and light to medium abrasions.
The film is typically composed of an adhesive layer, a thermoplastic urethane layer (TPU), and on high end films can consist of upper layers that are self healing to various degrees. It is important to note that there a different grades of not only the TPU, but the adhesive and upper layers as well. This can lead to a, negative or positive impact on the paint protection film's clarity, texture and performance of the film.
